Eagles fans, hold your breath! Saquon Barkley, the heart of the Philadelphia Eagles' running game, was seen limping off the field during their crucial playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers. The injury occurred mid-fourth quarter, sending a wave of concern through the stadium and beyond.
Thankfully, the news quickly improved. FOX Sports' Erin Andrews reported that, after a swift evaluation, Barkley was cleared by the trainers to return to the game. This was a massive relief for Eagles fans, especially considering Barkley's performance up until that point: a solid 106 rushing yards on 26 carries.
Looking back at the season, Barkley had a productive year. In 16 regular-season games, the former Penn State star racked up 1,140 rushing yards and scored 7 touchdowns from 280 carries. While this is a decrease from his 2,005 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 345 carries the previous season, it's important to remember the difference in carries.
Barkley's dedication to the Eagles' success is clear. He's determined to help the team win another Super Bowl, having enjoyed his first two seasons in Philadelphia under head coach Nick Sirianni.
But here's where it gets controversial...
On Christmas Eve, Barkley shared his thoughts on Coach Sirianni, stating, “When people compare who’s the best and who’s not, and for coaches, it’s about winning... There’s something to his standard that he sets, there’s something to the way he comes to work, just how detailed and how obsessed he is with all the little things.”
Barkley highlighted Sirianni's influence on the team's ball security and tackling, attributing these strengths to the coach's meticulous approach. He emphasized how Sirianni's philosophy permeates the entire team, from coordinators to assistant coaches and team leaders.
And this is the part most people miss... Barkley also pointed out how Sirianni's contributions sometimes go unnoticed, despite his significant impact on the team's performance over the last five years.
