Metro Detroit Weather Alert: Snow Chances & Bitter Cold on Monday Morning - Full Forecast Breakdown (2026)

Bitter cold lingers as snow chances creep into Metro Detroit Monday morning, with a warming trend on the horizon.

Weather overview from 4Warn Weather indicates continued Arctic air, occasional sun breaks, and a shift toward milder days midweek. Tonight, expect partly to mostly cloudy skies and frigid lows around the single digits in the overnight hours, with wind chills dipping near or below 0° as you head out Monday morning.

Monday brings mostly cloudy skies and a slight chance of light snow or snow showers as an upper-level disturbance sweeps through the region. The snow will be light and brief, generally coating up to 0.5" in spots and potentially slicking the morning commute in the affected areas. By midday, the snow should taper off. After lunch, skies stay mostly cloudy and temperatures struggle to reach the upper teens.

The pattern remains cold but gradually shifts as a southwest flow starts to take hold. Monday night and into Tuesday, temperatures edge into the 30s, with again mostly cloudy skies. Wind chills stay in the single digits to the teens most of the day.

Tuesday continues mostly cloudy, but warmer air moves in, pushing highs into the lower 30s. A partial clearing is possible at times, yet clouds dominate the forecast through much of the day.

Wednesday marks the next step in the warming trend, with highs approaching the mid to upper 30s. Rain showers arrive by Wednesday afternoon into the evening as a weak disturbance interacts with the warming air.

Rain chances extend into Thursday, with temperatures climbing into the lower 40s by Thursday afternoon. A cold front will move through Thursday night, changing rain to snow showers in many spots as we head into Friday.

Behind the front, a northwest flow resumes, bringing another round of snow showers by the end of the week. Highs drop back into the upper 20s to around 30°, and wind chill remains noticeably colder than the air temperature by Friday.

Looking ahead to next weekend, expect mostly cloudy skies early, with gradual warming into the upper 30s to near 40° by Saturday afternoon. A new front arrives later, bringing a chance of rain and a continued warm-up into Sunday, with highs back into the lower 40s by Sunday afternoon.

In short: this week starts brutally cold with a light snow event Monday, then milds up midweek with rain, followed by another round of precipitation and a general warming trend into the weekend.
