Get ready for a thrilling update on one of the UFC's most intense rivalries! The Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier saga continues, but this time, it's not just about MMA.
These two legendary fighters, who have a history of heated exchanges, are now being teased with the prospect of a wrestling match. Yes, you heard that right!
Jon Jones, known for his critical stance towards Cormier, recently had a chance encounter with his former opponent as coaches on a reality show. And let's just say, sparks flew once again.
But here's where it gets controversial... Daniel Cormier, in a surprising twist, agreed to box Jones during the filming of the show. However, a different contest, one that feels more realistic for their third clash, has been proposed by none other than the co-founder of a promotion.
In a recent interview, Chad Bronstein, co-founder of Real American Freestyle (RAF), hinted at the possibility of Jones vs. Cormier 3, but with a twist - a wrestling match! Bronstein cited the promotion's connections to both fighters, including Ben Askren and Izzy Martinez, who have ties to both men.
"Ben's pretty close to Daniel, and so is Izzy. Izzy even trained Jon Jones for a while. So far, RAF has shown that anything can happen. I'll leave it at that - anything's possible."
And this is the part most people miss... RAF has been creating a buzz by featuring former and current MMA stars in wrestling matches. Some of these stars, like Arman Tsarukyan and Colby Covington, are still under UFC contract.
Chad Bronstein emphasized the positive relationship between RAF and the UFC, stating, "The UFC has been great to us. We're not competitive; we're additive. We're giving their MMA superstars a chance to continue competing, training, and building their brands. The UFC has approved many of their fighters to wrestle with us."
So, could we see a wrestling trilogy between Jones and Cormier? It might be a long shot, but with RAF's track record, it seems like the most likely scenario.
What do you think? Is this the greatest rivalry in UFC history? And would you be excited to see these two legends square off in a wrestling ring? Join the debate and share your thoughts in the comments below!
