Chelsea's Rising Star: 16-Year-Old Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli Impresses in First-Team Training (2026)

Liam Rosenior has made headlines by inviting a promising 16-year-old talent from Chelsea’s youth academy to train with the first team in preparation for their upcoming match against Pafos.

Since taking the helm at Chelsea, Rosenior has shown a remarkable willingness to integrate young players into the senior squad, which is a refreshing change of pace for the club. Chelsea has long been celebrated for its outstanding academy facilities and the wealth of young talent nurtured at Cobham. However, there has been a noticeable decline in the emergence of homegrown stars recently.

While Reece James remains a standout player in the current Chelsea lineup, the club has increasingly turned its focus towards recruiting foreign talents, which seems to be a shift from their traditional approach. Players like Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez, who hail from South America, have been making their way into the team, and their performances have been encouraging so far.

Now, it appears that the academy might have produced yet another exciting prospect, as Liam Rosenior offers a training opportunity to a 16-year-old player whose skills are deemed too exceptional for the academy level alone.

What strategy should Liam Rosenior adopt for Shim Mheuka? 🤔 Could he possibly be too talented for the academy?

Additionally, Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli has been spotted training with the first team at Chelsea. Just recently turned 16, Mahdi has already made three appearances for the Chelsea U21 squad. Notably, he became the youngest player in Chelsea's history to score in the UEFA Youth League, cementing his reputation as one of the club's most promising academy talents.

However, it's worth mentioning that he hasn’t been included in the Champions League squad, suggesting that his role for now will primarily involve gaining invaluable experience.

Who do you think is the most exciting talent currently coming out of Cobham? 👀 We’d love to know if there are any young stars we’ve overlooked!

This is not the first occasion that Mahdi has trained with the first team, but it marks the first time he's been photographed during these sessions since Rosenior took charge. An intriguing aspect about Mahdi is that he's been projected to possess even greater potential than Arsenal’s rising star, Max Dowman.
